Marking Time

Exploring my environment and examining my circumstances through eco-printing and creative metal work.
Opening Friday 6 November 2026 at 6:00 pm
KZNSA Gallery, 166 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, Durban
Marking Time developed from the simple routine of walking my dogs each morning. Along the way I collect fallen leaves, flowers and other fragments of plant material that catch my attention. Back in the studio, these are used to make eco-prints on paper.
Over the past three years this daily practice has grown into an accumulating record of time and place. The prints are kept, revisited and sometimes embellished with gold leaf, typed words and small images that introduce further associations and personal meanings. Some are framed, often using recycled wine boxes, while others are gathered and bound into artist's books.

The exhibition brings together these prints and books alongside pieces of creative metalwork and jewellery that have developed from the same process. Together, the works trace a movement from walking and collecting, through printing and reflection, to making — transforming the small, transient things encountered in an everyday landscape into a personal record of time and place.
