I have this beautiful spider creeping into my work, and the Cabbage tree (Kiepersol) has fallen over, so there might not be leaves available in the near future...

Field Notes

Medium

Eco-print and metallic foil with typewriting

Year

12 July 2024

Species

Cussonia spicata, also known as a Cabbage tree, or Kiepersol in Afrikaans.

Remarks

The spider image is derived from a real Golden Orb spider that lived in the Jasmine outside my studio, and disappeared all of a sudden. I'm not sure about the romantic connection, but it does intrigue me how the notion of webs and entanglement are not foreign to romantic relationships
